We can scan thin sections of all shapes and sizes. Currently we are able to scan plane-polarised light (PPL) and cross-polarised light (CPL). Thin section scans are particularly effective at demonstrating macro-scale textures, filling the gap between hand specimen obervations and microscopic observations.
